Got some rain here today. Wish we could say it was a lot. Not so much. But even a little is good. Got out between the waves to take some pix. The cottonwoods are gorgeous. The horses are getting fat. :)
Nevada is so funny. Who knew he would like apples, and that they would be the key to "unlocking" him? They're all gone now, but we found out he liked them, and then he'd let us touch his face and scratch his chest and neck. Baylee lets us give her attention and scratching. She even lets us pull the burrs out of her mane and forelock. Iya - Iya! - will come walking up to see what we're doing. If we"appear" suddenly from behind somebody, she'll spook away. But when we make funny noises to try to get her attention - to look up so we can take her pic - she completely ignores us. All the girls are in love with Cisco - except Baylee and Johnnie, and those two are now sometimes-, odd-fellow friends. Oh, those ponies.
The pic of Baylee and Iya has a little story behind it. Baylee was watching us take pix of the other horses when Iya walked over, lifted her head and rested her chin on Baylee's back. Closed her eyes. We were so stunned, we almost forgot to take pix. They stood like that for quite a while. We're not sure why this affected us so much, and we can't articulate the meaning of it. The horses know such compassion. Contentedness? But also that Iya, so normally wary, would show that ... vulnerability? ... with us so close, just amazed us.
